Many search engines are getting more and mfor into local searches. Matt McGee has written a very good Local Search Marketing Guide.
This is an effort to “educate” small business advertisers about online marketing. If you are thinking about moving away from or in addition to the traditional Yellow Pages type of advertising this guide is must reading. It’s the first article I have found that really goes into detail on this subject, but I’m sure it wont’ be the last.
Scott Ginsberg is a man with a unique business plan. He wears a nametag every day, just to make people friendlier.
He’s a young man, but I’ve ben reading his stuff for years now. He has some great insight.
While only 26 years old, Scott is:
- The author of two books
- An international professional speaker
- A regular columnist for several online and print publications
- The internationally recognized “World’s Foremost Expert on Nametags”
- Featured in Ripley’s Believe it Or Not
An article by Bruce Schneier talking about why you need to be worried about the governments chipping (smashing) away at your privacy.
To sum it up in one sentence, “Widespread police surveillance is the very definition of a police state and that’s why we should champion privacy even when we have nothing to hide.”
I couldn’t agree more and I encourage you to read the entire article.

“Light Delight is the new series of taps in AISI 304 stainless steel combining toughness and safe with the effect and functionality of light. Colour varies according to the temperature of the water. The technology used to generate light takes advantage of the water flow.”
Is this cool or what?
Here’ some amazing work from here in the ‘Burgh
Researchers at Carnegie Mellon have found a way to allow computers to extrapolate 3 dimensional models from 2 dimensional pictures.
Groklaw’s Pamela Jones has written a terrific article on the subject.
In her story, Microsoft’s Calling Home Problem: It’s a Matter of Informed Consent, she reports in great detail what she, and other writers, have discovered about the Genuine Advantage programs.
It seems MS is collecting much more information about us than they would like you to know about. I am certain that I don’t trust them to keep my best interests in mind if asked by the government to just hand it over or perhaps worse yet sell it to someone else.
This data will probably never go away and even if they are benign about it now, what about 5, 10, 20 years from now? Maybe it’s time to use a Linux desktop.
Rendr is a live CSS and HTML rendering tool made by Greg Taff. It displays what the page would look like as you type, making it great for rapid testing of page designs.
I have tried it out and it seems to be another great tool.
Congress is trying to play favorites with Internet access. We need to let them know this is not OK.
(CNN) ? Most Americans believe that if you play fair and work hard, you?ll get ahead. But this notion is threatened by legislation passed Thursday night by the U.S. House of Representatives that would allow Internet service providers to play favorites among different Web sites.
I going off of my usual subject matter today, because I think this is the coolest video that I have seen in a long time.
What happens when you combine 200 liters of Diet Coke and over 500 Mentos mints? It’s amazing and completely insane.
If an attacker can convince you to plug his USB device (like an iPod) into your computer, he can take it over.
Plug an iPod or USB stick into a PC running Windows and the device can literally take over the machine and search for confidential documents, copy them back to the iPod or USB’s internal storage, and hide them as “deleted” files. Alternatively, the device can simply plant spyware, or even compromise the operating system.\
