Hatteras 2011
Another wonderful week on Hatteras Island.
The weather fine, the waves were very rideable and nothing to do, but relax.

Here’s something just for some fun on a Friday. (Not responsible if you get caught playing at work)
The part of Pittsburgh that I live in is called Highland Park and one of the main features is The Pittsburgh Zoo. Just the other day the zoo announced a new development Tentatively called “Top of the World” because it’s at the very top of their property, you may remember it as the hoofed animals exhibit. It is going to be a hospital and learning center and sounds really cool.
I walk by there most every day and the last time they were building a new new polar bear exhibit, The Water’s Edge in 2006, I took photos every month of the construction as it progressed. I’ll try again with this exhibit and keep adding pictures to this page, but right now it’s a bit overgrown and doesn’t look like much at all.

I have many people ask me where to get images for their site, blog, newsletter, etc.
No one wants the hassle of getting a take(shake)-down notice.
Here are a couple of good free sites where you are allowed to use the pictures any way you want.
I’ve donated a few pics of my own.
Just back from the beach and I feel great! It was a wonderful week, it only rained Wednesday (late at night). That’s perfect weather two years in a row. We stayed in the same house as last year, maybe that’s it. First time to stay in the same house twice since the mid 90′s.
I never usually post things while I’m gone, but before I left I asked several people what they thought about posting pictures on facebook, Twitter, etc. As you might expect everyone said that it was not a good idea. Some were more vigorous than others.
The people that did post their memories live as they happened seemed to also feel that it probably wasn’t safe, but the benefits outweighed the risks.
I’m not sure. Do you have any thoughts on that?
Enjoy the photos
I was out for a semi-regular walk today. On my way back, I saw a boy 12 maybe 13 washing the car and doing a good job. I said “hi” and “Wow, just like the commercial. You take good care of that car because it may be yours one day”.
He smiled back and said a slow “yeah”, like he had already though of that.
Smart Kid!
Some photos from my wanderings
Sunday I visited Brenckles mostly just to look at the flowers.
I did pick up a couple types of mint (chocolate and pineapple) and a scented geranium strawberry.
Thought you might enjoy the pictures
It’s been a lovely spring here in Pittsburgh.
Here are some pics from my semi-regular walks in Highland Park. It’s been a bumper year for flowers so far this year (poison ivy, too)

The name pretty much says it all.
My wife, who loves snow, mentioned to me the other day that we didn’t have any snow on the ground in the middle of winter. I told her “Don’t worry it always snows for my birthday”.
I think this will hang around until them.
