Software Recommendation – Opcion – A free font viewer

Filed under: Information, web design — Tags:

Sometimes when I am working on a picture and I want a particular look in a font for the picture I will add them one at a time.

Then recently I found Opcion. Opicon is a free open source font viewer that allows you to view both installed and uninstalled TrueType fonts on Windows, Linux, Unix or Mac.

I like that because written in Java it doesn’t have to be installed to run so it doesn’t clutter up your machine.
I also like that you can view all of the fonts anywhere on your machine, the fonts don’t have to be installed in your computer to be viewed in Opicon. So you can also view fonts that you may have saved in another folder.
It also has a nice feature where you can type in the text that you want to display.

At only 683KB I don’t see any downside to trying this one out.
