When designing a new site for a customer one of the first things that I ask them is if they have a logo and company colors. Because I’m dealing with mostly small and sometimes new businesses many times they say that they do not have them.
I usually suggest that they visit my favorite new sites page or to go to some of their favorite sites to get some ideas for color choices.
I recently found a site called COLOURlovers : Color Trends & Palettes. They offer design inspiration with thousands of palettes and color schemes. They offer color pallets of everything from websites to movie posters. It’s a wonderful place to find unique color combinations. They also allow you to rate color trends and comment on them
The page that caught my eye was “A Collection of 18 Beautiful Butterflies & Their Color Palettes”. What better way to find a pleasing color pallet than to let nature do it for you. There are some very interesting combinations of colors here, some that I would never have considered work very well together.
