Sometimes <a href=\"http:\/\/boingboing.net\/2012\/07\/10\/dropped-infected-usb-in-the-co.html\" target=\"_blank\">it&#8217;s done on purpose<\/a>, others it&#8217;s folks with computer viruses just losing their memory card. Either way it can be bad for you.<\/p>\n<p>This is not something new. I wrote about it <a href=\"http:\/\/www.lillicotch.com\/Blog\/2006\/06\/09\/dont-let-anyone-plug-in-a-usb-device-in-to-your-machine\/\">back in 2006<\/a>. The real problem is that Windows machines come with autorun turned on by default and anything that you plug in, just runs automatically. Exactly the opposite of good security. If your computer does that you should consider <a href=\"http:\/\/answers.microsoft.com\/en-us\/windows\/forum\/windows_7-security\/how-do-i-disable-autorun-windows-7\/7ba51974-c009-44ad-9067-f3968744175b?auth=1\" target=\"_blank\">turning it off<\/a> (<a href=\"http:\/\/support.microsoft.com\/kb\/967715\" target=\"_blank\">XP<\/a>) right away.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>I&#8217;m usually not the kind of alarmist that tells you there is this horrible new malware out there that will eat your children if you open this attachment, but&#8230;.
