{"id":441,"date":"2007-09-21T19:09:53","date_gmt":"2007-09-22T00:09:53","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/lillicotch.com\/Blog\/2007\/09\/21\/pittsburgh-happenings-the-burgh-sees-all\/"},"modified":"2007-09-21T19:09:53","modified_gmt":"2007-09-22T00:09:53","slug":"pittsburgh-happenings-the-burgh-sees-all","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.lillicotch.com\/Blog\/pittsburgh-happenings-the-burgh-sees-all\/","title":{"rendered":"Pittsburgh Happenings &#8211; The &#8216;Burgh Sees All"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><a href=\"https:\/\/lillicotch.com\/Photos\/2006\/2642.html\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/lillicotch.com\/Photos\/2006\/2642S.jpg\" align=\"left\" border=\"0\" hspace=\"5\" vspace=\"5\" \/><\/a>I live in Pittsburgh PA and have all of my life.<\/p>\n<p>This morning I heard news that  <a href=\"http:\/\/www.post-gazette.com\/pg\/07263\/819044-53.stm\" target=\"_blank\">The &#8216;Burgh wants to install cameras everywhere<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>Then this afternoon I check the blogs that I like and see Bruce Schneier has posted  <a href=\"http:\/\/www.schneier.com\/blog\/archives\/2007\/09\/londons_securit.html\" target=\"_blank\">London&#8217;s Security Cameras Don&#8217;t Help<\/a>. There is always lively discussion on his blog.<\/p>\n<p>I hate to see this camera thing coming to be, but they are already on the highways, at traffic lights and I suppose it&#8217;s inevitable in this age.<br \/>\nMaybe I&#8217;m just nostalgic.<\/p>\n<p>In the end it&#8217;s probably going to be Google that  does a better job with the technology. They already have <a href=\"https:\/\/lillicotch.com\/Blog\/2007\/08\/24\/friday-just-for-fun-site-smile-youre-on-google-camera\/\">Street View<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>I believe that there are more proven methods of crime prevention which would make better use of the money.<br \/>\nAlthough it may be one of those deals where you have to spend the money on this project or lose it, I&#8217;m not sure.<\/p>\n<p>I wonder about things like&#8230;<br \/>\nWhat would happen if the system was hacked without detection, from outside or inside and used to commit crimes?<br \/>\nGood movie plot, no?<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>I live in Pittsburgh PA and have all of my life.
