By embedding Google Video content into your site, you can also add color to a story, illustrate complicated steps on a how-to page, or give content for a review.
Recently, Google made it much easier to let them host your content - you can upload from within your web browser and your videos will be available for your site within minutes. You’ll also be able to get full reporting on any videos you’ve uploaded.
It’s easy to start: just find a video you like from Google Video or upload your own, then click on the embed link on the right side of any playback page to add it to your site.
Here’s a neat idea for displaying external pages in a tabbed format inside another page.
Due to security reasons the external pages must be on the same domain, but it’s still a pretty cool trick.
Rosetta@home is a scientific research project that uses internet-connected computers to predict and design protein structures, and protein-protein and protein-ligand interactions.Their goal is to develop methods that accurately predict and design protein structures and complexes, an endeavor that may ultimately help researchers develop cures for human diseases such as HIV/AIDS, Cancer, Malaria, and Alzheimer’s.
The Rosetta@home project uses a software package called Rosetta, which was initially developed for predicting the three-dimensional structure of a protein from its amino acid sequence. Over the years, Rosetta has evolved to also include protein design and the prediction of protein complexes. At the core of Rosetta are the physical model of macromolecular interactions and algorithms for finding the lowest energy structure for an amino acid sequence (protein structure prediction) or a protein-protein complex (protein docking) and for finding the lowest energy amino acid sequence for a protein structure or protein-protein complex (protein design). They hope to continually improve the physical model and the search algorithms based on feedback from prediction and design tests carried out by the Rosetta@home project.
In order to do this, they need your help. They believe that they are getting closer to accurately predicting and designing protein structures and protein complexes, one of the holy grails of computational biology. But in order to prove this, it requires an enormous amount of computing resources, an amount greater than the world’s largest super computers. This is only achievable through a collective effort from volunteers like you. By simply running the Rosetta@home program on you computer when it is idle and not in use, you will help speed up and extend their research in ways they couldn’t possibly attempt without your help. You will also be helping their efforts at designing new proteins to fight major diseases.
Whether you’re charged with preventing hacks, protecting assets, stopping fraud or defending trademarks, Google and other search engines present a new mix of risks for everybody in the security game.
“We always get enamored of a new technology, and it takes us a while to understand the price of that technology,” says Robert Garigue, vice president of information integrity and chief security executive of Bell Canada Enterprises in Montreal. For security pros, the price is that Google can be used to dig up network vulnerabilities and locations of sensitive facilities, to enable fraud and cause other sorts of mayhem against the enterprise. Here, CSO examines the ways Google is shaking the security world, and what companies can do about them.
Here is another great guide to starting your own website. It’s geared toward beginners, but there is plenyt of information for everyone.
So, you’re ready to take the plunge and begin to learn how to build your own web pages and sites? Fantastic! We’ve got quite a ride ahead, so I hope you’re feeling adventurous.
Virtually 100 percent of postcards get read and the reason is simple:Mail in envelopes has to be opened first to be read. People often look at just the envelope, decide they?re not interested, and out it goes. In contrast, a postcard is already ?opened,? ready to read and, at the very least, the message will be seen ? no matter how speedily ? by the recipient.
Postcards are the least expensive form of direct mail today, are easy to create, and typically generate a high rate of response.
When you combine all these factors, it?s no wonder then that businesses today use postcards as a tremendously powerful marketing tool.
It is, however, important to avoid some common mistakes
Stop the government from spying on your internet connection by using open source software and strong encryption. Everyone encrypt their internet connections and stop the NSA in their tracks!
You are being watched.
Regardless of the government you live under, your actions on the internet are being tracked. Your every search recorded and kept in a database for future use/abuse. US citizens have had their web traffic monitored by the NSA and AT&T, and their every search history subpeaned by a Federal Judge. As we move towards a more wired and connected society, the potentials for abuse grow exponentially. Imagine a future where your past searches label you as a threat to your government. Or where your browsing history is known by everyone. It’s possible now.
