Something To Think About When Placing An Ad

My customer MeloSleep.com wants to take out several newspaper ads to promote their site.

With online ads you make a brand new page and then have people click on a link to that new page.
Lillicotch.com/sample1/, Lillicotch.com/sample2/, etc.

That way by using your server logs you know exactly how many visitors that new page gets, where they came from, where else they went, how long they stayed, and much more. It’s much easier to track the results of your ad to see if the return on your investment (ROI) of buying the ad brought enough interest/income to justify it.

This works well with a link, but with the newspaper people are typing the address into their browser.
On many sites after you type the .com every thing is case sensitive.

I think it’s best to keep it simple.
With newspapers it’s best to give people the least amount of letters to type and still be able to get to the site.
No www. or anything else.

I’m not sure what the solution to this is. You do lose the ability to track the campaign, but I think that’s better than losing visitors who get frustrated trying to type a long URL into their browser.
