Refer a Friend
One of the simplest and most effective form of promotion that you can do for your business is to have one of your customers refer one of their friends. Just the fact that the recommendation is coming from their friend and not from you gives it much more weight in the friend’s eyes.
There are many good ways to do this including having a “Refer A Friend” page on your site. You do have to be careful with these scripts, as spammers have been known to attack them. The one I use is by Will Bontrager called Master Recommend V3. It’s works well and is free.
Jennifer Laycock at the Search Engine Guide wrote a very good post called “Simple and Affordable Viral Marketing – Refer a Friend” with some ideas for other ways to recommend a friend to your site or business. She talks about some very good ideas that have your customer do your marketing for you and won’t cost you an arm and a leg to use.
